Wow! Lots of traveling in the last few months. I started with a trip to A Coruña, Galicia, Spain
for Akadamy 2015. I had a great reunion with my friends. I did a lightening talk on my work with build.kde.org and
I did not collapse in fear! Oh and most importantly I won an award 🙂
Kubuntu Day landed on the same day as my BoF sadly so I did not get to attend much of that. I was able to attend the BoF with Munich and a lot was accomplished in regards to upstream KDE working closer with the Munich team. Overall Akademy was extremely successful in catching up with everyone and working with them in person.
Randa! This was my first ever Randa sprint. This sprint is tucked away in the beautiful swiss alps. A much smaller group than Akademy is gathered together to hack on a specific theme or direction for KDE software. This year it was all about mobile. My job of course is to introduce mobile ( currently android and ubuntu-phone ) builds to my CI. While I would love to claim completion, I was informed a few days before that we need to revamp all of the metadata ( dependency handling ) which requires a rewrite of most of the DSL and tooling. As a result, I was busy with this task. However, I am writing the mobile DSL into the rewrite :). I did have some help with CI tasks during Randa, Emmanuel worked on Docker bits and Hannah helped with Windows. I have to say though the beauty and fresh air of the alps is extreme motivation to work long hours hacking away 🙂 with some long walks to clear the mind, it was a perfect combination.
Please consider donating to Randa. It is an excellent resource for KDE contributors.
